The Battle of Cable Street
Here is a link to a Website with information and resources relating to the Battle of Cable Street, a confrontation in the east end of London between Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists (BUF) and protesters from the local community in 1936. Mosley had organised a pro-fascist march through this largely Jewish area of London and the local population, along with anti-fascist protesters from around the country, turned out in big numbers to prevent the march from taking place. Their slogan was, They Shall not Pass, and they didn't! The Battle of Cable Street: 80 years on
